Granddaddy Purple x Chocolate Trip
Chocolate Trip – Chocolate Trip is one of those rare hybrids that stops growers in their tracks. Dutch Flowers developed this strain from a genuine Chocolate Thai—sourced straight from seasoned growers in Hawaii, the same folks behind their Lemon Thai. This wasn’t some watered-down rework. It was the real thing—heady, thunderous, and utterly electric. The kind of high that makes the walls breathe and the floor feel like it’s floating.
But make no mistake: the original Chocolate Thai was a beast. Fourteen weeks in flower. Buds that were more thread than structure—spindly, stringy, with that wild, braided look only a landrace can pull off. Incredibly aromatic and sticky, but barely produced, even when crammed outdoors in dense packs like industrial hemp.
Dutch Flowers saw the potential—knew the high was legendary—but it needed work. They brought in an Indigo Diamond female, crossed her with a Chocolate Thai male, and ran through over a hundred seedlings to find the standout. Then they flipped it: a Chocolate Thai mother crossed to an Indigo Diamond male, and the three best males from that pool were used to pollinate the chosen female.
What emerged was Chocolate Trip—a serious indoor performer with a shortened flowering time (around 50 days), a stocky and manageable structure, and heavy yields. The buds are thick, resin-drenched, and carry that unmistakable vanilla-candy sweetness laid over a peanut butter base. It’s this unique combo of sweet and nutty that pushes the aroma into chocolate territory—though some suspect that old-school Thai chocolate note came more from the curing process than the plant itself.
Chocolate Trip brings landrace flavor and headspace into a plant that actually makes sense for indoor growers—tight-noded, under a meter tall, generous yields, and a fast finish. It’s Chocolate Thai’s wild soul, tamed just enough to thrive.
